Where there's a witch there's a way

I decided to share some info about me today that I bet some of you don't know.....I'm a hedgewitch.  Yup...I'm a full blown practicing broom wielding spell casting charm bag carrying witch. I've been one for 12 years and it completely changed my life for the better. :)  I'm also a High Priestess of Wicca and an ordained reverend .  Before you run screaming and scared lol I want to tell you about why I chose this path and what it means.

Wicca is a nature-based religion, we celebrate Mother Nature and the changing seasons.  We celebrate the phases of the moon and our ancestors.  We celebrate the earth and all the wonders she has to offer. It's not scary, it's not dark and we don't even believe in satan. lol  Our symbol is called a pentagram and the points represent Earth, Air, Fire, Water and the Spirit. These are the elements of existence. We celebrate and honor a Goddess and a God.

The practice of Wicca is calm and peaceful and meditation is wonderful when being a mom and wife gets rough.  I keep a rose quartz crystal handy all the time so I can just grab it and calm myself down if things are getting out of control.  I believe that everything is made up of energy and if the energy is negative, we have the ability to change it by rearranging those energies.

I'm a very "white" witch...meaning all the things I practice are only good intentions.  I have never ever practiced or cast harm on another because I life by Karma....whatever you do to others will come back to you three-fold.  All my friends are "white" witches too.  If you passed me on the street you would never know my beliefs except for a ring I wear on my left hand which signifies my ordination.  My favorite clothes are my American Eagle and Hollister hoodies. My house is decorated in primitive country and I'm a fish tank nerd (I have 5 tanks and breed cichlids). lol

I practice natural herbal medicine and make all my own salves, tinctures and concoctions.  Most of the herbs are right out of my own herb garden. Bet you didn't know that plain old aspirin comes from a willow tree branch. I have an entire medicine chest of naturals meds and we reach for them for everything from a bruise to a sprained ankle.

We live a very "normal" life and if it wasn't for my practice, which kept me sane, I would be in a looney bin!

I just felt the need today to talk about this...don't ask me why...i guess i'm just a glutten for punishment. lol  If any of you have any questions or comments or thoughts, please feel free to post them, I welcome them. :)

"Before you run screaming and scared lol"

-grin- Yep, you are pushing the envelope Hon. :-) Not with me. And since I'm very new here, maybe not with your regular readers either. But I do know that some Pagans are not as open. :-)

Myself, I finally gave myself permission to question my Catholic faith, 9 years ago and have no faith now. Guess I'm an Agnostic, because my feeling is, I don't think we human beings can know for sure, if a Creator made this wonderful Universe. Or it was just a 'Big Bang.'

But to me, even if a Creator did start this amazing Universe, this Creator didn't pay any more attention to it. And is not paying any attention to we teeeeny little beings down here, on this tiny little planet, in the vast Universe. That's my take.

No need for it to be yours.

I want everyone to find their own path. Just don't push their path on me. OR feel they have the right to KILL me, if I don't follow their path.

And in "Pretty Blog Land" where I blog, which is very heavily populated with heavy Christians, my view is not one I squawk about much either. -giggles- I don't hide it. I just don't bring it up much. :-)

Good luck with coming out of the broom closet, as it were.<--No nastiness meant! I mean wishing you well. May we all do our own thing!

Gentle hugs...

Oh... and I am not suggesting that you are pushing your path, on me! Geee, I don't want that to seem like I'm saying that. I do not.

You are not doing so.

Some heavy Christians do, when they imply that "everyone will have to answer to God" and etc. A warning, ya' know. Yish.. If they want to live that way, let them. Just please don't imply that I have to live that way.

naw, not at all. we all have our own twist and turns in beliefs. what one thinks to another is what makes life interesting. my college girl would love to live in a great community of wiccans.

Not running away at all! I love that you are a Wiccan, I think thats very interesting. When I first met my husband, he introduced me to paganism and what it means to be a Wiccan (as I understand it, they are very close?) We both believe in nature and harm to none philosophy, and he also makes his own tinctures. I'm in acupuncture school, and part of that is learning to make tinctures and prescribe herbal medicines, so I'm looking forward to learning more about that. I don't know that I'd call myself one thing, but I definetly see myself as a type of pagan/wiccan since we believe in Gods and the universe's energy. I remember the first time he took me to Salem, I was so freaked out! lol:) I'd love to hear more about your practice!

A witchy woman? Good for you! I think if it works for you, go with it (as you are!). :)

Good for you! You have more guts than me.... I choose not to discuss religion on my blog at all. Specifically because of the large number of Christians who read and also because my Mother is a devout Catholic who would be.... non accepting. I am leaning more towards paganism or Wicca every day rather than agnosticism (I have been a basic agnostic since I was about 17) and my 15 yo has expressed interest as well. We are doing some reading to try to learn more.

I live in the Deep South, in the Bible Belt, surrounded by fairly judgmental and close minded people. My faith is a private matter for me around here because otherwise, my children would be persecuted at school.

I would love to hear more about your beliefs and practices. And if you could share any links to informative sites I would love it!

okay, you asked for questions so here they are...if you wiggle your nose can you change me into a frog? Does your broom really fly? Can you see dead people?

Okay, all kidding aside...love you anyway! Not going nowhere!

Strike up the band girls...Tamara's come out!!!YEAY!...
(actually...I hadn't realised that you were still in the broom closet...did my old comments cause you any trouble sweetie?)

I am so pleased for you...it's so dark in those wardrobes...and mine has lots of spiders in it...really!(I love them though!)

Very brave of you...!
I always appreciate how hard it is for others to be free with their beliefs...just because it was easy for me...doesn't mean that it's like that for everyone else!

So girl...dust off the old cloak and we'll meet on the roof top for a midnight flight...see you there!

The verification word is sesseme...could it really mean "Open Sesame"...as in...open the closet door?!

I am so happy to find this out! I'm a hedgewitch too! On Candle Crafters Guide on .ning I don't mention it, so it's nice to know we have several Wiccans and Pagans there. I admire you and love your blog!
