The Truck Stop

We decided to go out for dinner last night but wanted something different. So we drove over to Wisconsin to this very cool truck stop. It was like something out of a movie!! I know...I know...those of you that see them alot probably think I'm nuts, but we just don't get to experience this. lol

It was packed full of running semi trucks and it even had a semi truck that was a chapel!! We walked in and it was like walking into a restaurant in the south.  (I grew up in the south) Truckers were sitting around gabbing in their plaid shirts and john deere caps.  The truckers were talking to each other from their tables and it was so friendly and informal. The waitresses were sooooo nice and they were wearing white waitress dresses!! And we had southern fried chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy on HUGE platters....and it was all you can eat! hahahaha omg I'm still full!!

It was really fun and we joined their conversations and laughed alot...great night!!

I am overly found of truck stop diners. My dad is a trucker and I love everything to do with the profession. And you are right they are soooo friendly.

that sounds like a blast. my honey is a truck driver so it will never be anywhere we will go. Maybe I will find one close by and sneak the kids there one day.

My wonderfully insane BIL is a trucker. We always meet him somewhere within a 90 mile drive of here depending on which route he's running. Yummy, yummy fun and you're right, for the most part folks are friendly. What a great "adventure". I couldn't do what the truckers do. I would go off my nut unless you could drive, sew, read or bead while driving......and like to be in my own snuggly warm bed and take a shower where I know where the floor has been.....and who visited it last. I know TMI.
Uh-oh, the word is merti....please show me some merti, I been good....not.

Fun! I love places like that - there aren't many here anymore. There used to be one down the road with a big old table where all the locals sat.

I love that feeling of community like that where everyone is just sharing a meal regardless of which table they are sitting at.

Oh your meal sounds so good. Now if only I hadn't join the Lose it Bitch club so I could try some of that Southern Fried Chicken!

I've eaten at some of those southern truck stops, and they have some of the best food and service around.

Sometimes the food at a truck stop is so much better than at a "nicer" restaurant! They're the only place that can make a decent order of biscuits and gravy!

I came by to welcome you to SITS! We're happy to have you with us!

I love that feeling, like walking into something out of a movie! I was just watching a movie the other night that made me wish there were still those old, home-style bars. The ones where it's like on the first floor of a house and the owner ives upstairs. I love nostalgia!

Stopping by to welcome you to the SITStahood. We are so glad you could join and look forward to seeing you around!
